Hi Bob,

Good to hear from you. I wonder what paper. This fall marks the 30th anniversary
of the first of my |STAT programs, which have had a revival due to Linux and Mac OS.

As you may know, Caroline took a position at McGill and I've been telecommuting for
the past five and a half years. Our boys are 15 and 12. Mark was too old for French
immersion, but his French is still very good. George is much more fluent than I,
although that's not saying much because I do not get a lot of opportunities to practice.
My longest French conversations are with English people whose French is so poor that
they can't tell I'm English. Francophones almost always switch to English with me.

Spring seems to have arrived and all the snow is gone, which is much better than last
year when the snow lingered to the end of June. Then Montreal turns into a festival
town - jazz, comedy, etc. We have lots of room and live close to downtown (Caroline
usually walks to work from home - postal code H3Y1X1, which you can google), so please
feel free to visit.

I stopped going to CHI's a little later, but I think I've only been to a couple
in the past 10 years. 2006 was in Montreal, for which I was the unofficial guide.
 	http://acm.org/perlman/guide.html
I had a nice dinner with Serge, Jim Hollan, and Tom Erickson. Johnathan did not
make it to that CHI, but he stayed with us for a wiki conference the next year.
Serge and Isabelle got divorced, but they are still in the same department at
Univ de Montreal. Their kids have babysat for ours until just a few years ago.
Somehow, I never see Serge even though he lives about a mile from us.

Our family was in Boston a year ago or so. It was nice to see the elevated expressways
down, and Boston was just as walkable as ever. I made a special trip to Rosies just
to get Soho Globs.

Enjoy CHI. It's still a great show.

Gary

The artsy stuff inspires some, but usually not me. I still like going to the courses.

Hi everyone,

It's tax time for me. For various reasons, we have not taken
any charitable deductions for the past five years, but they can be carried
forward so this year we are looking to catch up.

I have a receipt for the $10K I gave to the Glushko fund this year,
but I seem to have misplaced the one from April (or so) of 2006.
Can anyone email me something with accurate information, and possibly
official looking? Sooner is better than later, but I can take the
deduction until 2011.

Thanks,

Gary

Hi Andrew,

Although the hcibib tends to add anything anyone asks for, I definitely want to add TACCESS! Your message is most welcome. I remember seeing it when it came out, and I added a link to it from the hcibib.org/accessibility page, but I wait until volumes are complete before adding, and because it was not in my queue, I did not remember to add it.

Best wishes,

Gary
