I absolutely agree that it would be good to have two or three drills (groups of eight or five boys) going on at the same time as this will definitely help in keeping their attention and developing various skills. However, I am not in favor of smaller groups for multiple reasons. I feel that at this age, it is important to keep things simple and consistent, as well as to continue reinforcing basic skills and positions. As the boys' skill level increases, new and more complicated drills can be added. I also think that it is important to have consistency with respect to the parents who help during practice and the games. In short, it is much easier to have two parents commit to being present for each practice than to have five.
